Montenegro is truly a beautiful and unique country! It is a beautiful European country next to Croatia and across the Adriatic Sea from Italy.

Where exactly in Montenegro will the Tauria office be located in? The exquisite town of Budva!

According to the numerous legends Budva was firstly the Illyrian town. Its first inhabitants were the King of the historically well-known Thebe – Kadmo and Queen Harmonia.

Budva is often called the "The Miami of Montenegro". This town is accompanied by a wide range of beaches that you can explore during the day and the wildest nightlife.

If you are a party person, you will be relieved to hear the Budva is the place for nightlife. If not, no worries, Budva is much more than just nightclubs and festivals. One area to highlight is Budva’s Old Town. The walls of Budva's Old Town is older than 2,500 years old! This town may be small but do not underestimate the extent of the activities offered here. There is something here in Budva that can and will appeal to everyone.

We couldn't help but feel the need to also highlight two other towns in the area: Tivat and Kotor.

City-Park-Tivat-768x576.jpg

Tivat is a small town in the Bay of Kotor that has flourished in recent years! Tivat is rumoured to be named after the Illyrian queen Teuta, who ruled part of Montenegro. She was attacked by the Romans in 229 B.C. and had to retreat from Lake Skadar to Risan in Kotor Bay and built herself a summer residence in Tivat. Tivat is a great place to drop by whenever you have the time since it is only 30 minutes from Budva. Tivat is more known for its site-seeing views.

One example is Tivat Botanical Gardens. Sailors have brought here unusual plants from all over the world, and each of them has found its place in this wonderful garden. Such a diversity of plants and trees is hard to find in any other park of Montenegro. A large pomegranate grove is considered the heart of the park.

Kotor is one of the most popular areas to visit for tourists! Kotor is more than two thousand years old, and its name stems from the word Dekatera (from the old Greece katareo – meaning HOT). The rich history of Kotor, is parallel to the rich culture of the town with which many conquerors ruled: the Illyrians, the Venetians, the Austrians, the French...

Due to its rich past, there is history at every turn - from the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon built-in 1166 to beautiful Baroque palaces, stately reminders of the Hapsburg rule. If you are a history buff, taking some time to drop by Kotor will definitely be worth your time! If you are not a history buff, drop by Kotor anyways to view the beaches, nature and explore the busy city itself and take a gander at how all the different cultures combined throughout history.

The crime rate in Montenegro is about 2.23 per 100,000 people (2018)! It's extremely safe in Montenegro so you wouldn't have to constantly worry about being robbed or getting hurt. Don't take this as "Montenegro is perfect and nothing bad ever happens"; still take certain precautions such as locking your doors and windows at night and not leaving your wallet on a bus but you certainly will not have to be clutching your bag, in fear of getting attacked at any moment.
